VARIETAL COMPOSITION 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Cabernet Franc
Vignalta built its reputation on Merlot and Cabernet blend. Only in exceptional vintages a straight Cabernet Riserva is bottled at Vignalta. The first Cabernet Riserva released was the 1990 vintage. Thanks to this wine Vignalta received its first "Tre bicchieri" award from the Gambero Rosso Italian Wines Guide.
VINEYARD In the Euganean Hills, Arquà Petrarca. Vines average age is over 50 years old. Limestone soil; Southwest exposure.
VINIFICATION Destemmed and crushed. Fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks; 6 pumpings over a day at a controlled temperature. Aged in French oak barrels for 24 months, aging in bottles for at least 4 years.
