Half of the Cabernet Sauvignon for this bottling comes from Mendocino, whose cool nights and warm days add finesse, with the remaining parts from Pope Valley with high elevation to provide structure and Clarksburg to add ripe aromatics. The vines average in age between 14-26 years old. During fermentation, roughly 35% of new wine pulled from the tank and aged in the barrel to enrich the mouth feel. The finished wine is aged for 8 months in a combination of neutral and new barrels.
