The Dr. Loosen Sekt Extra Dry is produced with fruit from estate vineyards within the Middle Mosel. The grapes are selectively hand picked as healthy fruit unaffected by botrytis. Fermentation and lees contact proceeds in bottle, a process referred to as 'Flaschengärung' in German, before clarification occurs through the transfer method. A finishing dosaged is added at re-bottling.
Aromatically this wine is bright and linear, with notes of green apples, white chalk, and lime zest. On the palate the bubbles have bracing acidity, but the wine finishes with a softer, almost vanilla cookie flavor.
