The vineyard name, Wehlener Sonnenuhr translates to 'The sundial of Wehlen' and is famous throughout the Mosel for its steepness as well as the rocky, blue Devonian slate soils. The wines that hail from this vineyard consistently show racy minerality and elegant structure. The vines age averages around 70 years on their own original rootstocks, and are farmed sustainably. The wines are harvested at Auslese level ripeness and ferment entirely in stainless steel before stopping the process by temperature control.
Aromatically the wine immediately is mineral driven, with undertones of tropical fruits, petrol, and white flowers. The palate is concentrated without being flabby, with tropical fruit flavors such as mango and pineapple, and an extremely long, acid driven finish.
