Ürziger Würzgarten or the 'Spice Garden of Ürziger' is celebrated not just for its vibrate red soils or its terrifyingly steep slopes, but instead the immense amount of tropical fruits and exotic spices that are laced throughout the wines that hail from it. The vines are directly across from the vineyards of Erden, along the dramatic bend of the Mosel river. The soils are a blazing red volcanic sandstone and the vines date back to a whopping 100+ years. These grapes we selectively hand harvested earliest during the German harvest period before : cool fermentation in a combination of stainless steel tanks and traditional Fuder barrels. The fermentation is stopped by chilling.
Aromatically the wine is fruit driven and spicy, with ranging notes of citrus and tropical fruits. The palate is slightly creamy, with a subtle sweetness that follows, and a refreshing finish of wet rock minerality.
