With the 2018 vintage, Bonny Doon has re-vamped their Le Cigare Blanc, the winery has moved from only utilizing one vineyard, the famed and biodynamic Beeswax located in the Arroyo Seco region of Monterey County, to including grapes predominately from Cedar Lane and Paragon of which are both located in the Central Valley. The blend is almost equal parts Grenache Blanc and Vermentino, taking a new world spin on the White Rhone inspired cuvee. After harvest, the grapes are fermented in small, stainless steel vessels. The wines undergo frequent lees stirring in the post-fermentation process.
Aromatically the wine jumps with heaps of ripe fruits such as honeydew, crunchy peaches, mango, as well as tropical white flowers. Upon first taste, the wine is tartly citrus-forward with immediate flavors of lemon and lime, along with a creamy texture from the lees, and a finalizing flavor of white guava.
