JC Vizcarra is an estate-bottled wine made by Bodegas Vizcarra Ramos in the Ribera del Duero DO region within Spain. The winery was founded in 1991 by Juan Carlos Vizacarra, in the northern central region of Ribera del Duero. This bottle is 100 %Tempranillo (Tinto Fino), organically grown vines planted in 1980 in limestone and clay soil. After harvest, fermentation takes place in stainless steel and malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel. The wine is aged for fifteen months in French and American oak barrels, 50% new and 50% two years old.
Aromatically the wine is perfumed with dark berries, crushed violets, and fine vanilla, with a smoky hint of oak. On the palate, the wine is sweet and smooth, with black and blue fruits as well as supple tannins that are balanced by minerality.
