Wine Enthusiast Woodward Canyon Winery, 2013 Woodward Canyon Merlot Columbia Valley
"Woodspice and vanillin are out in front on the aromas followed by mocha, raspberry and dark fruit. The palate brings lush, concentrated flavors and a lingering finish. It drinks beautifully now sbut should have a long life ahead of it." –Mar 2016
Vinous Woodward Canyon Winery, 2013 Woodward Canyon Merlot Columbia Valley
"(from Weinbau and Woodward Canyon vineyards; aged in tight-grained French oak, 40% new and a sizable percentage from made by Taransaud; bottled in August of 2015): Bright, dark red-ruby. Youthful scents of cassis, dark cherry, minerals, bitter chocolate and flowers; I might have picked this blind as Cabernet. At once broad and vinous, offering classically dry flavors of Bing cherry, blackcurrant, tobacco leaf and licorice. Mott sometimes adds a bit of Cabernet to flesh out the middle palate of this Merlot, but not in 2014. Finishes with suave tannins and excellent length but this tight wine is still a baby."

These mature south-facing vineyards are over 20 years old and are comprised predominantly of sandy loam and silt loam soils and are very well drained with perfect aspect.
