Wine Advocate Vietti, 2013 Vietti Nebbiolo Perbacco
"Without a doubt, this is one of the top easiest-to-drink wines I tasted this year. The 2013 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco is an approachable and versatile wine that brings on a hearty appetite for genuine home cooking. The wine is ripe with dark fruit nuances and it offers a complete bouquet that is comprised of dark fruit, pressed rose and spice. Despite its apparent simplicity, this Nebbiolo is not without its complexity or depth." –Jun-16
The Perbacco is made entirely from parcels in the Barolo region (average age of the vines is 35 years). All vineyards are vinified and aged separately.
Aging: Total period of aging is 2 years: 4 months in barriques (during which time natural malolactic fermentation occurs), and 20 months in big casks. The wine then sits two months in stainless steel tanks before the bottling.
The work in the vineyards and cellar are the same for the Perbacco and the Barolo Castiglione - the only difference being the length of aging.
