Wine Advocate Vietti, 2012 Vietti Barbaresco Masseria DOCG
"The 2012 Barbaresco Masseria is a fruit-forward expression of Nebbiolo with dark cherry, blackberry and prune at the front. Warm tones of dry leaf, moist chewing tobacco and leather add some softness to the background. This Barbaresco is released one year later than required and shows a more profound sense of depth and complexity as a result." –Jun-16
Grapes are harvested from a single-vineyard site in Treiso, planted with vines that average 40 years of age. The must rests for 15 days in open stainless steel tanks for the alcoholic fermentation, with frequent délestage, open-air pumping-over. Malolactic fermentation occurs in barriques and the wine ends its aging in Slovenian oak casks for a total of 26 months. Bottled unfiltered.
