Vinous Vietti, 2013 Vietti Barbera d'Alba Scarrone DOC
"The 2013 Barbera d'Alba Scarrone is dense, powerful and focused in the glass, with terrific energy throughout. A dark, sumptuous beauty, the 2013 is going to need time to develop the full breadth of its aromas. There is plenty to look forward to. Overall, the 2013 Barberas are restrained in style, both a reflection of the cold year and a stylistic shift towards great finesse at Vietti. -AG" –Dec 2015
The grapes for this wine are selected from the single vineyard Scarrone, planted in 1988 and situated close to the winery in Castiglione. At the beginning of the malolactic fermentation, the wine is moved into French oak barrels and casks for 14 months. The wine is then held in stainless steel tanks for 2 months before bottling.
