Vinous Tyler Winery, 2014 Tyler Pinot Noir Bien Nacido
"The 2014 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard is soft, fleshy and seductive. Sweet red cherry and plum notes wrap around the palate as this open-knit, succulent Pinot shows off its forward, inviting personality. Silky, polished tannins add to the wine's round, spherical feel. A final burst of sweet floral and spice notes rounds things out nicely." –Sep-16
Wine Advocate Tyler Winery, 2014 Tyler Pinot Noir Bien Nacido
"Also outstanding, the 2014 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido has plenty of upfront fruit (and there's not much of that in this lineup) as well as a pretty, polished and mid-weight feel on the palate. Aged 15 months in 25% new French oak, it has plenty of tension and grip, with fine tannin emerging on the finish. Give bottles 2-3 years and enjoy through 2024."
Vines are grown in the most shale laden gravel soils. These are well-drained, mineral soils. The wine is made from grapes coming from a selection of old and young vine vineyard parcels within the Bien Nacido vineyard. These included some wine made from grapes grown on the old vine G block and grapes grown on younger vines planted in the mid-90s from the Q and N blocks.
