"Lemon confit, slate, mint and a host of mineral-inflected notes give the 2014 Chardonnay Dierberg Vineyard its super-distinctive phenolic, tense personality. One of the more structured, broad wines in the Tyler lineup, the Dierberg has enough intensity to pair with a wide range of foods. Today, the 2014 is a bit tightly wound, but it offers notable potential. This is another understated, classy wine from Justin Willett. An early-ripening site with light, powdery, sand/sandstone soils, Dierberg is the first site Willett picks for Tyler." –Sep-16
Planted in the mid 90’s in Santa Maria Valley – their site is in the SW quadrant with lighter Garey series, sandy loam soil. This is the first site that warms up. On this side you find much cooler, windy conditions with soils lighter than on the bench side where Bien Nacido sits. They began working with the Pinot Noir in 2005 and Chardonnay in 2010. The wine is always high in acid with exceptional minerality and concentration.
