"Winemaker Tegan PassalacquaâÄôs family owns the Kirschenmann Vineyard in Lodi, and the 2013 Zinfandel Kirschenmann Vineyard (15.2% alcohol) is yet another Turley offering that wants to transport the taster to the Southern Rhône Valley of France. Yet it is more than the powers of suggestion that the aromas of raspberry, kirsch liqueur, earth, spice and pepper are all present in this wine, made from head-pruned, ungrafted vines. This is a juicy, up-front, full-bodied yet elegant Zinfandel to drink over the next 5-6 years."

Turley Wine Cellars

Now in its second iteration, the Kirschenmann vineyard is owned & farmed by their winemaker, Tegan Passalacqua. The ungrafted vines were planted in 1915 in the silica-rich sandy soils of the east side of the Mokelumne River AVA. Thanks to the river’s cool waters and delta breezes, these head-trained, dry-farmed vines are constantly protected from the heat.

Winemaking: Fermentation with only natural yeasts; 80% French oak, 20% American oak (80% used, 20% new). Aged for approximately 15 months.
