"The 2014 Zinfandel Mead Ranch is one of the most vibrant, pulsating wines in the Turley range. Translucent and full of detail, the Mead Ranch possesses captivating beauty and nuance throughout. The flavors are brisk, precise and delineated throughout. -AG" –Oct 2015
"The 2014 Zinfandel Mead Ranch is powerful, rich and explosive. A burst of red cherry and pomegranate makes a strong first impression. Beams of Atlas Peak tannin extend the mid-palate and finish, while giving the wine its distinctive shape. Expressive floral and minty notes add aromatic lift in a wine that oozes pedigree." –Dec-16
Mead Ranch is planted at about 1600 feet on Atlas Peak, on the south eastern side of Napa Valley. The vineyard was originally planted in the 1880s, though their block is primarily from the 1970s. This vineyard is head-trained, planted in red volcanic soil. On a clear day you can see San Francisco; though those are few and far between, and thus this vineyard sees plenty of fog from the bay.
The fermentation process only uses natural yeasts. The wine ages for approximately 15 months in 80% French oak and 20% American oak (80% used, 20% new).
