"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2013 Run Rig has a tantalizingly exotic nose of cloves, fenugreek, star anise and cassia with a core of mulberries, baked blackberries and blueberry preserves plus hints of potpourri and dusty earth. The full-bodied palate is multi-layered with tons of spices and berry preserves notes, supported by firm yet velvety tannins and finishing with incredible length and depth. This is a very impressive RunRig"

"A very showy vintage of RunRig that opens with plenty of sweet fruit and sweetly spiced oak, everything is turned up, redolent with violets and peppery notes, tar and toffee, chocolate, toasted almonds, vanilla, nougat, blackberry, panforte, plum liqueur and more, it brightens and focuses with air, really impressive. The texture is super layered and beautifully integrated, totally seamless, it builds a long smooth sleeve-like core of dark cherry, blackberry and plum, really pure and deceptively powerful. Impressive now, best from 2020."

"Tremendous, opening up with chocolate and cream details, offering wild raspberry and cherry flavors that expand to detailed notes of nutmeg, licorice and dried rose petal. Lingers on a smooth, velvety body. Shiraz and Viognier. Drink now through 2030."

WINE
2013 Torbreck 'Run Rig' Shiraz
Torbreck Wines

98.5% Shiraz, 1.5% Viognier from six different parcels: Lyndoch, Rowland Flat, Seppeltsfield, Greenock, Moppa & Ebenezer.

Each of the six parcels of fruit were gently de-stemmed into both wooden & concrete open top fermenters where they were carefully nurtured for 6-7 days on skins. After basket pressing the wine was run directly into both new (45%) and 2nd and 3rd fill French barriques to complete natural malo. The wine was then racked after six months, but left on fine lees throughout maturation to enhance texture. After 30 months the Shiraz components were blended into tank and a bench trial was conducted to determine the final percentage of Viognier.
