James Suckling Torbreck Wines, 2012 Torbreck 'The Descendant' Shiraz
"Super-fragrant and neatly integrated oak spices. This has an impressive, fresh, dark-berry nose that also offers very bright, fragrant lift. Some really fresh fruits, earth, spices and gentle tarry accents. The palate is seamlessly smooth, supple, fleshy and mapped out on fine tannins. Dark, toasted spices carry long and silky. This is elegant yet concentrated." –March 2015
Wine Advocate Torbreck Wines, 2012 Torbreck 'The Descendant' Shiraz
"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2012 Descendent offers gorgeously pure notes of violets, vanilla and cinnamon stick over a core of black cherry, blackberry and wild blueberry notes plus and hint of cloves. Full-bodied, concentrated and built like a brick house, the spectrum of flavors, ripe, abundant tannins, clever balance and epically long finish make this a Descendent that rivals its forefather (97+ points)"
Torbreck Wines, 2012 Torbreck 'The Descendant' Shiraz
The 2012 Descendant was picked slightly later than usual due to cooler conditions in February and March and was picked on the 4th April. The cooler conditions have given the wine clearly defined aromatics and a silky, supple fruit profile. Immediately impressive the sublime bouquet is reminiscent of violet, lavender and spice. Lavish layers of dense blueberry fruit is perfectly interwoven with nuances of cinnamon, tar, exotic spice, pepper and dark cherry. Full-bodied with great concentration, and silky tannins this suave wine has impeccable balance and a long future ahead of it.
