Torbreck Wines, 2013 Torbreck 'The Struie' Shiraz

"With only 12% new oak and 28% of the fruit coming from the cool Eden Valley, this wine may hold more appeal to lovers of Old World Syrah than any other Torbreck bottling. Pepper, bacon fat and mixed berries mark the nose, while the palate is full, creamy and expansive. The long finish includes enough soft, dusty tannins to suggest cellaring through 2030 as a possibility, although itÄôs delicious now. Wine Creek. EditorsÄô Choice. ÄîJ.C."

"Expressive and seamless, bursting with bold wild blackberry and huckleberry flavors, accented by fleshy tannins. Details of white pepper, fresh ginger and smoke linger on the long finish. Drink now through 2026.Äî"

2013 Torbreck 'The Struie' Shiraz
Torbreck Wines

This Torbreck Shiraz cuvée from the cooler climate, higher altitude vineyards of Eden Valley is skillfully blended with fruit from Barossa Valley which traditionally provides greater richness and intensity. A blend of 44 year old Eden Valley Shiraz vines and 80 year old Barossa Shiraz, The Struie is aged for 18 months in a combination of old and new French oak barriques prior to bottling.

Small parcels of fruit from old dry grown vines were selected for their individual qualities and matured for 22 months in new (12%) and seasoned French oak. The wine was assembled in January 2015 and bottled without filtration or fining in March 2015.
