Soter Vineyards, 2012 Soter Pinot Noir Reserve North Valley

"The 2012 Pinot Noir North Valley Reserve is sourced 76% from Eola-Amity Hills, 10% Ribbon Ridge, 9% Yamhill-Carlton and 5% Dundee Hills. It includes one-third whole-cluster fruit and aged in 40% new French oak, the remainder used. This barrel selection has an intense nose with black cherry and kirsch, touches of camphor coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. This feels lithe in the mouth with fine delineation, very focused, gently building to a lovely tea-leaf tinged finish that lingers long in the mouth."

Soter Vineyards

The Willamette Valley of Oregon stretches nearly 160 miles from the Columbia River Gorge down to the Eugene area - a large, diverse scope. However, it is in the North Valley of this region where the finest “Cru” quality vineyard sites are located. Soter has formed partnerships with farmers here committed to certified sustainable farming practices and the goal of producing outstanding wines that reflect distinctive personality and style.

Elevage uses 40% new French oak barrels and 60% neutral French oak barrels with 33% whole-cluster fermentation.

2012 Vintage
While 2011 North Valley Reserve Pinot Noir hailed from a single vineyard source, the 2012 represents fruit selected from four different sites, from four sub-appellations, all of real breed. The 2012 vintage was one of the region’s great ones, and this wine will satisfy immediately upon release, while developing complexity in the bottle for over a decade.
