"Another delicious wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a terrific example of the year. Creamy and beautifully layered on the palate, the 2013 captures all of the pedigree of this great vintage in a style that offers a bit more immediacy than many other wines. Best of all, the Cabernet Sauvignon is a remarkable value. Bright red stone fruit, mint, white flowers and tobacco add nuance on the silky yet powerful finish." –Feb-16
"Deep garnet-purple, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is scented of crème de cassis, ripe plums and pencil shavings with hints of sautéed herbs and beef drippings. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with concentrated black fruit and earth flavors, framed by grainy tannins and finishing with an herbal lift."
"Ramey 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is a denser style of wine with an opaque purple color, notes of licorice, graphite, a touch of barrique and plenty of blackcurrants in a medium to full-bodied style with relatively supple tannins. It should drink well for 10-15 years." –Mar 2016

The geology and soils of Napa Valley are notoriously complex and are primarily comprised of broken down or decomposed rock that has been carried downhill from the eastern Vaca range and the western Mayacamas range into the base of the valley, where they ultimately intermingle with the silt, clay and gravel deposits of the Napa River flood plain.
Following native-yeast and full malolactic fermentations, the wine rested sur lies to incorporate the oak so that the 18 months spent in 56% new barrels (3-year air dried French, 33% and American, 23%) is barely noticeable. The wine remains in barrel for 18 months. (9400 cs)
2013 summed up to be a perfect vintage with clear sunny days and cool evenings. This produced a long, moderate growing season with extended hang time and even ripening, resulting in silky tannins and a full range of flavors while retaining natural acidity.
