Ramey Wine Cellars, 2011 Ramey Cabernet Sauvignon Pedregal

"Inky purple. On the nose, a highly fragrant bouquet of black and blue fruit liqueur, fresh flowers, spicecake and musky herbs. Very fresh and alluringly sweet on the palate, offering powerful dark berry and cherry-vanilla flavors and a sexy floral pastille quality gaining strength with air. Juicy, broad and penetrating on the finish, with echoing notes of blue fruit and vanilla. (92-94 points)"

Ramey Wine Cellars, 2011 Ramey Cabernet Sauvignon Pedregal

"The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Pedregal Vineyard seems to have handled the challenges of the vintage brilliantly. All of the vineyard signatures come through beautifully. Incense, smoke, tobacco, wild flowers and black fruit meld together in an effortless, gracious Cabernet Sauvignon. Once again, David Ramey used a fairly high amount of Petit Verdot (24%) in the blend."

Ramey Wine Cellars, 2011 Ramey Cabernet Sauvignon Pedregal

"Marked by a dose of charry, smoky oak, this offers dense flavors of dark berry, currant, black licorice and dried herb. Ends with gutsy tannins and a persistent finish."

2011 Ramey Cabernet Sauvignon Pedregal
Ramey Wine Cellars

Pedregal means "rocky place" in Spanish, a fitting name for this small, hillside vineyard on the lower slopes of eastern Oakville in Napa Valley, which consists of red, basalt rock soil. Ramey's dedicated & meticulous farming team, headed by Mike Neal, planted this vineyard in 1990 and has farmed it continuously since.

85% Cabernet Sauvignon & 15% Petit Verdot were co-fermented with native yeasts; Full natural malolactic fermentation completed. The wine aged sur lies with monthly bâtonnage for 19 months in 100% new French barrels (Taransaud and Darnajou). Bottled unfiltered.
