Wine Advocate Riglos, 2013 Riglos Gran Cabernet Franc
"The 2013 Cabernet Franc has strong herbal aromas and feels a little soapy, with some cracked pepper and earthy aromas that kept improving in the glass. The palate has grainy tannins and good acidity that transported me to Chinon, compact and balanced. One of the best Cabernet Francs in Mendoza. 8,136 bottles produced."
Sourced exclusively from their estate vineyard "Finca Las Divas", in Gualtallary, which is in the Alto Valle de Uco region of Mendoza, the wines of Riglos are all styled to strike a balance between vivid varietal expression and elegant structure.
The rocky soils and the high altitude combine to form a unique terroir that expresses itself in elegant wines with intense aromatics, great structure and excellent food paring abilities. This deeply colored wine is intensely fragrant, with aromas of blackberries, cassis, plum and whiffs of mocha, sage and discreet oak. These notes are repeated on the palate, which is both plush and elegant. The Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and linearity, the Malbec brings in seductive heft and texture and the Cabernet Franc adds touches of complexity and spiciness, giving an overall impression of breadth without heaviness. The finish is long and exotic, lingering on notes of spice and black fruit.
