Riglos, 2011 Riglos Gran Cabernet Franc

"Savoury... Marmite and eucalypte on the nose. Seductive in the mouth; full but focused... vibrant and easy to drink with a long future."

Riglos, 2011 Riglos Gran Cabernet Franc

"Often my favourite of the single varietal wines from Riglos (as opposed to the Gran Corte) this is only the second release of Cabernet Franc. It’s as good as ever here, with very deep colour, ripe, balanced, green pepper, liquorice and fresh tea flavours, bright acidity and succulent tannins."

2011 Riglos Gran Cabernet Franc

Sourced exclusively from their estate vineyard "Finca Las Divas", in Gualtallary, which is in the Alto Valle de Uco region of Mendoza, the wines of Riglos are all styled to strike a balance between vivid varietal expression and elegant structure.

The rocky soils and the high altitude combine to form a unique terroir that expresses itself in elegant wines with intense aromatics, great structure and excellent food paring abilities. This deeply colored wine is intensely fragrant, with aromas of blackberries, cassis, plum and whiffs of mocha, sage and discreet oak. These notes are repeated on the palate, which is both plush and elegant. The Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and linearity, the Malbec brings in seductive heft and texture and the Cabernet Franc adds touches of complexity and spiciness, giving an overall impression of breadth without heaviness. The finish is long and exotic, lingering on notes of spice and black fruit.
