"The 2013 Pinot Noir Katherine Lindsay Estate is round, creamy and beautifully layered, with plenty of sweet red cherry, plum, spice and lavender notes pushed into the foreground. Attractive spice and floral notes add to the wine's sensual, inviting personality. The Katherine Lindsay should drink nicely pretty much upon release. There is plenty of Russian River raciness here. The 2013 was done with a touch of whole clusters (4-5%), but they aren't especially evident."

"The 2013 Pinot Noir Katherine Lindsay Estate is once again lifted, precise and aromatic. White pepper, blood orange, chalk, mint, spices and bright red fruit are given an little more focus by the energy of the year. Although still very, very young, the 2013 is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. The 2013 speaks to finesse and pulsating vibrancy above all else."

(90-92+)
"My tasting notes on these same Pinot Noir cuvées in 2013 revealed slightly smaller production numbers, and wines with more crisp acids, perhaps not the flesh and fat of the 2012s, but stylistically, they are more elegant and feminine whereas the 2012s are more meaty, concentrated and powerful. All the 2013 Pinot Noirs appear to be very good.... (90-92+)"

2013 Paul Hobbs Pinot Noir Katherine Lindsay Estate
Paul Hobbs Winery

This terroir-driven wine showcases the iron-rich “Sebastopol Series” Goldridge soils of the Katherine Lindsay Estate Vineyard.

2013 was a phenomenal growing season in just about every way. A warm, dry spring led to early bud break, limited canopy vigor and berry size, and created ideal conditions through bloom and fruit set. An abundance of long sunny days, with only one heat spike in early July, resulted in even ripening and an early harvest with exceptional flavor development. The 2013 vintage offers very high quality wines that are striking in their balance and expression.

Winemaking:
-Hand harvested at night
-Hand sorted, cold; 5% whole cluster inclusion
-5 day cold soak, 16 days total maceration
-Fermented with indigenous yeasts in small, open-top, stainless steel tanks
-Spontaneous malolactic fermentation in barrel
