James Suckling
Andrea Oberto, 2011 Oberto Barolo Brunate DOCG

"Wonderful length to this red with plum, hazelnut and light chocolate character. Full body, velvety tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Lingering finish. Hard to decide if 2011 is better than 2010."

International Wine Report
Andrea Oberto, 2011 Oberto Barolo Brunate DOCG

"The Brunate is another drop dead gorgeous wine from Andrea Oberto in 2011. It instantly opens with striking aromas of ripe dark cherries, plum and red berries followed by floral, licorice and hints of tar. On the palate this is beautifully structured and balanced, showing wonderful depth and wonderful polished texture. It finishes up with excellent length, leaving behind a mouthful of ripe fruits juicy lingering. (Best 2017-2030)"

Andrea Oberto, 2011 Oberto Barolo Brunate DOCG

"The 2011 Barolo Vigneto Brunate is another dark, powerful wine built on fruit. Full-bodied and powerful to the core, the 2011 boasts tons of richness supported by firm, incisive tannins. Today, many of the vineyard signatures are masked by the ripeness of the wine's ripeness. (88-91 points)"

100% Nebbiolo

These grapes are from the sandy soils of the cru Brunate vineyard. It is planted with 40-year-old southeast-facing vines in the village of La Morra. The super-ripe clusters are picked into ventilated 10kg boxes with rigorous quality selection. After a brief natural drying for 24 hours, the clusters are destemmed and crushed with 10% of the juice drawn off. The must is fermented with frequent but gentle pumpovers, followed by a lengthy maceration on the skins of 350 hours. The wine then goes to oak barrels for spontaneous malolactic fermentation. It spends 26 months in large oak ovals of 16, 25, and 50 hl, 2 months in stainless steel tanks and 6 months in bottle. (200 cases)
