Andrea Oberto, 2011 Oberto Barolo Albarella DOCG

"This shows so much intensity and density for the vintage. Full-bodied, layered and silky. A big yet balanced young red."

Andrea Oberto, 2011 Oberto Barolo Albarella DOCG

"The 2011 Albarella Barolo from Andrea Oberto is absolutely brilliant. Ripe dark cherries, plums, floral, earthy mineral and licorice notes all come together beautifully. It continues to impress with its outstanding balance, which is backed by a wonderful fine, polished texture. It finishes up with remarkable focus and precision, showing excellent length. Very accessible today, yet should also evolve gracefully for years to come. (Best 2015-2030)"

Andrea Oberto, 2011 Oberto Barolo Albarella DOCG

"Oberto's 2011 Barolo Vigneto Albarella emerges from a site in Barolo. Interestingly, the less well-exposed positioning of Albarella might have been an asset in 2011, as the flavors are brighter, punchier and more focused than in the other wines in the range. Silky tannins support a core of expressive dark red fruit in a layered, nicely polished Barolo with solid potential. (90-92 points)"

100% Nebbiolo

The grapes are from 0.8 ha cru vineyard planted in 1974. The site is located in the village of Barolo, just below the famous Canubi vineyard, sharing the same southwestern exposure and clay soil. Hand-harvested grapes are de-stemmed and put into temperature-controlled stainless steel tank for an extended maceration of up to 350 hours on the skins before undergoing primary fermentation. The wine then goes into oak barrels for natural malolactic fermentation. It matures 26 months in large oak ovals of 16, 25 and 50 hl, 2 months in stainless steel tanks and 6 months in bottle.
