"Oberto's 2012 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata brings together the intensity of the vintage here with the nuance and delineation that is so typical of this great La Morra site. Powerful, dense and explosive - but with a classic sense of Rocche perfume - the 2012 possesses notable richness and intensity to match its decidedly bold personality. This is another ample, generous Barolo from Oberto. -AG"

2012 Oberto Barolo Rocche Dell'Annunziata DOCG
Andrea Oberto

100% Nebbiolo from the cru Rocche Vineyard in La Morra. The 8 ha of 40-year-old vines have southeast exposures with sandy soils. The super-ripe clusters are hand-picked into ventilated 20 kg boxes, given a rigorous quality section and brought to the cellar within a few hours. After a 24-hour natural drying, the clusters are destemmed and crushed with 10% of the juice drawn off. The must is fermented with frequent but gentle pumpovers. After a lengthy maceration on the skins of 350 hours, the wine goes to oak barrels for spontaneous malolactic fermentation. It ages 26 months in large oak ovals of 16, 25 and 50 hl., 2 months in steel tanks and 6 months in bottle. (300 cases)
