"The 2014 Zinfandel Rockpile Ridge Vineyard has an opaque ruby/purple color, a sensational, rich, full-bodied mouthfeel, great fruit purity, and a deep, mineral-laced, peppery finish. Alcohol again is just under 15%, but it carries it beautifully with no heat whatsoever. This full-throttle, rich Zinfandel should age nicely for 10 years. " –Mar 2016
"Dense and jammed with fruit, offering aromas of mineral, black cherry and anise and complex flavors of raspberry and white pepper that linger alongside big, ripe tannins. Drink now through 2025. 1,203 cases made."
The family’s Rockpile Ridge Vineyard is located at nearly 1,200-ft elevation in the Rockpile appellation. This vineyard has sweeping sun exposures from southeast to northwest and consists of nine distinctly different blocks of Zinfandel. The blocks are all harvested at different times and fermented separately to insure the integrity and uniqueness of the individual blocks. The winemaker gets the opportunity to work with the different sun exposures, soil compositions, slopes and drainages.
Fruit spends 15 months in oak barrels (90% French; 10% American). (1,175 cases)
