Wine Advocate
Margerum Wine Company, 2014 Margerum Barden Chardonnay

"My favorite white from winemaker Doug Margerum is the 2014 Barden Chardonnay, which comes from two sites in the Sta. Rite Hills: La Encantada and La Rinconada. Aged ten months, on less, in 60% new French oak, it has terrific elegance and purity as well as classic notes of white flowers, stone fruits, salty minerality and hints of steel. Possessing rock solid balance between its textural richness and freshness, it should drink nicely for 5-6 years."

"The 2014 Chardonnay offers lovely interplay between the natural pliancy of the Rinconada and Encantada vineyards and the brighter, crisper nuances that are achieved at slightly lower sugars. Candied lemon, white flowers and mint are all found. This is an especially vibrant style for the Sta. Rita Hills."
