Wine Advocate Littorai, 2014 Littorai Chenin Blanc 'The Haven'
"The 2014 Chenin Blanc The Haven Vineyard has a beautiful musk perfume over a core of warm apples, pears and earth, plus a hint of honey-drizzled peaches. Dry, light-bodied and with oodles of mouth-filling, intense stone fruit, yeasty and earthy flavors, it finishes long and honey-laced. It should age gracefully, gathering further richness over the next 5-7 years or more. 460 cases were made." –Mar-17
Vinous Littorai, 2014 Littorai Chenin Blanc 'The Haven'
"The 2014 Chenin Blanc The Haven is savory, aromatic and lifted, with considerable energy from the block malo-style. Sage, dried pear and chamomile build in a tense, vibrant wine endowed with real pedigree. The 2014 is a gorgeous, super-expressive Chenin from Ted Lemon."
The Haven is the original Estate vineyard. Planted in 2001, it is a microcosm of the diversity of soils within the Sonoma Coast, containing uplifted undersea volcanic rocks, sandstones, shales and loams.
The Haven is located at 1200 feet elevation between the tiny town of Occidental and the Pacific Ocean. It lies on an east-west ridge and
from its southfacing slope where one can see the fog-enshrouded ocean in the distance. The vineyard is late ripening and very cool. It is one of the
last sites they harvest every year.
Fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel barrels and a very small stainless steel tank. The wine ages for almost
a year and a half on its original fermentation lees prior to bottling.
