Domaine des Lises, 2014 Equis Cornas

"Lovely stuff from a vintage that is sure to be overlooked, the 2014 Cornas offers notes of leather and spice, medium to full body and a lush, creamy mouthfeel. It's not the biggest, baddest, or fruitiest wine, but it's harmonious, savory and should drink well for a decade or more."

Domaine des Lises, 2014 Equis Cornas

"A ripe, gutsy style, with a solid core of plum sauce, warm cherry and raspberry preserves framed liberally with singed vanilla and dried anise notes. Alluring flashes of black tea and iron show through the finish. Best from 2018 through 2024. 20 cases imported."

Domaine des Lises, 2014 Equis Cornas

"This has the trademark reductive aromas seen in all the Max Graillot wines. Redder fruits here with some pepper and sanguine, bloody aromas. Extremely fresh. The palate has a tart, tangy edge and bright peppery red fruit flavors. Drink now with a good decanting."

2014 Equis Cornas

100% Syrah

Fruit is drawn predominantly from a 20-year-old parcel on the slopes of the great Cornas lieu dit, Les Chaillots, with the balance from old-vine parcels in La Sabarotte and La Côte. All are hillside sites where the soils are very rich in granite. The vines have always been organically managed, and the owner/grower is a respected friend of the Graillots. Maxime Graillot's and Thomas Schmittel have the final say as to when the grapes are harvested and are able to send their own team in to do the picking.

The wine is crafted à la the de lises Crozes though the whole bunch varies between 10-30% depending on the vintage and the wine is cellared before release to align fruit and tannin.
