James Suckling Alois Lageder, 2011 Lageder Krafuss Pinot Noir
"A very fine pinot noir indeed with lightly dried strawberries and cherries. Hints of shaved chocolate and cedar. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a long, flavorful finish. âÄîJames Suckling" –Oct 2015
Fruit comes from the biodynamically-farmed Krafuss estate vineyard that was planted in 1991. It sits at an altitude of 430 m to 450 m (1410 ft to 1480 ft) facing southeast. The loamy, chalky soils and cool mesoclimate are hallmarks of this site.
Grapes undergo fermentation and extended maceration for 18 days in stainless steel tanks followed by maturation for 12 months in barriques (1/3 new).
