Wine Advocate
Alois Lageder, 2014 Lageder Lowengang Chardonnay

"The 2014 Alto Adige Chardonnay Löwengang (aged on the lees in barrique for 11 months) is a creamy and thick expression of the grape. The wine offers beautiful intensity with apricot, honey and vanilla custard. Some 37,500 liters were produced. The mouthfeel is opulent and rich, but carefully balanced at the same time."

100% Chardonnay

This wine is made from certified organic grapes from vineyards that are farmed according to biodynamic methods of viticulture (Demeter certification).

Fruit comes from the best, selected parcels owned by the Löwengang Estate, situated in Magrè at different altitudes between 230-330 m above sea level (750 - 1080 feet). Soils are sandy and gravelly with a high content of limestone, and there is a warm mesoclimate with large temperature variations between day and night.

Grapes are gently pressed with a spontaneous fermentation in barriques (French oak, mostly from Tronçais and Vosges, depending on the vintage up to 1/3 in new wood) followed by maturation on the lees in barriques for 11 months.
