Chateau Leoube, 2015 Chateau de Léoube Rosé

"Organic grapes tended in plots close to the sea have produced a delicious wine full of red-fruit flavor. It is rounded and soft in texture with an herbal hint. The right amount of acidity gives the wine a crisp fruity aftertaste."

Grapes come from 25-year-old vines grown on a mixture of clay mica schist and sand soils.

Whole clusters are crushed by direct pressing, followed by stainless steel fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Blending occurs after, and the wine undergoes 6 months aging on the lees in steel tank to allow the development of complex flavors and texture. (16,000 cs)

2015 Vintage
Spring was wet allowing the ground soil to retain humidity for the following summer months. June, July and August were hot and dry with no hail or storms. As always, the unique sea breeze due to the proximity to the sea cooled down the vines overnight.

The grapes were more concentrated bringing more developed flavors to the wines this year. Harvest started a week early (21st August) with no disruption of rain or thunderstorms. 45 pickers worked 5500 hours (sunrise to noon) handpicking 467 tons of grapes. Fruit was all hand selected in the vineyards and pressed whole cluster with their stalks.
