Domaine Michel Gros, 2013 Gros Chambolle Musigny A.C.

"TOP VALUE - (two-thirds of the total is from Les Argillières, a lieu-dit that directly abuts Musigny on its northern border with the rest being from Les Maladières, Les Mombies and Les Nazoires). Reduction flattens the fruit and renders the nose impossible to evaluate. The middle weight and lightly mineral-inflected flavors possess a slightly finer mouth feel before concluding in a bright and tension-filled finish where a touch of wood surfaces. This is an excellent villages and in particular I like the balance and restraint. Worth checking out.. (89-91)"

2013 Gros Chambolle Musigny A.C.
Domaine Michel Gros

The main parcel (42 acres) is composed of 50+ year old vines and is situated in the Argillières, whose name indicates the nature of its soil. The site follows the Musigny vines in the North at the entrance of the Chambolle comb and produces a cuvée with unusual strength & density for a Chambolle village, more similar to a Premier Cru. Four other small parcels are used, all situated in the following localities: Nazoires, Maladières and Mombies. All plots lie on the alluvial cone of the comb with stony subsoil, which ensures perfect drainage. Aged 18 months in French oak barrels (50% to 70% depending on the vintage).
