"Amazing aromas of crushed berries and blueberries with hints of flowers and spices. Violets, too. Medium to full body, ultra-fine tannins and beautiful focus and length. So beautiful now but better in 2019. Few hundred cases made now."
–May 2017, James Suckling

2014 Hyde De Villaine Pinot Noir 'Ygnacia'
Hyde de Villaine

Pinot Noir from Hyde Vineyard in Carneros with southern exposures and loamy soil. This Pinot is a blend of 7 heritage clones collected by Larry Hyde over the last 40 years, in a pursuit of the finest Pinot Noir clones in the New World. Wine goes into 20% new French oak for 17 months. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

2014 Vintage
After one of the driest winter on record in 2013, the rains eventually came between February and April and the ground was saturated fairly quickly. The rain was perfectly timed during bud break, promoting rapid healthy growth in the vineyard. An unseasonably warm spring followed by a consistently warm summer promoted accelerated growth, ideal pollination and early véraison in late June. We experienced a few days of cooler weather in August which allowed our grapes to slow their ripening and helped preserve the mineral components and freshness in the wine. The clusters and berries were small in 2014, a mark of a great vintage. Harvest started mid-August and completed the first week of October.
