"The 2015 Sancerre La Côte des Monts Damnés has a deep, intense and smoky nose with a strong lemon perfume. Full-bodied, round and elegant, with a vital but refined acidity, this is a pretty lush, aromatic and charming Monts Damnés, but its finish is long and complex and reveals a very nice phenolic grip, finesse and tension. The 2015 is excellent already today, but will gain further complexity over the years. Nice bitter grapefruit aromas in the aftertaste."

Henri Bourgeois

100% Sauvignon Blanc from vines averaging 35- to 45-years-old

La Côte des Monts Damnés is a very steep south and south-west facing slope in Chavignol composed of Kimmeridgian marl (a soil made up of fossilized seashells and clay). Dating back to the 11th century, noblemen would outbid one another just to possess a small parcel. This terroir gives roundness, deepness and a great longevity to the wines.

During the harvest, only the very ripest grapes are hand-picked and carefully brought to the cellar where they are gently pressed to release their aromas. The juice is left to settle naturally for a couple of days and fermented, in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks. The wine is then matured on its fine lees between 6 to 8 months before bottling.
