Marchesi Di Gresy, 2010 Di Gresy Barbaresco 'Camp Gros' Riserva, Martinenga DOCG

"The 2010 Barbaresco Riserva Camp Gros Martinenga is the first "Riserva" wine made by this historic estate. Since only Tenute Cisa Asinari has access to fruit from this vineyard, the words "Monopole since 1797" were added to the label. I tasted bottle number 0164. This is a gorgeous expression of Nebbiolo that delivers impressive elegance, complexity and intensity. It has all the hallmarks of a great Barbaresco. Soft layers of wild berry and spice peel back to reveal ethereal balsam herb and licorice. The finish is silky, smooth and polished. Put this bottle at the back of your cellar. -ML"

"Alberto di Grésy's Barbarescos are all about timeless elegance. The wines are lifted, aromatic and not at all obvious, but rather wines that draw the taster in with their total sense of delicacy. The Camp Gros, which is made from parcels in Martinenga on the other side of the property next to Rabajà, is aged in cask. A firm, explosive wine, the 2010 Barbaresco Riserva Camp Gros Martinenga is marked by brisk tannins and a sense of classical austerity that is going to need time to soften. A host of sage, tobacco, red cherry, plum and mint notes open up in the glass, with expressive floral notes that add an attractive upper register. Readers should plan on cellaring the 2010 for at least a few years, as it is especially tannic, even for this wine. --Antonio Galloni"

Marchesi Di Gresy

100% Nebbiolo

The 'Camp Gros' Riserva comes the single vineyard in the Barbaresco township at 280 meters above sea level. Vinification starts with a brief maceration on skins: 8/10 days fermentation with floating cap followed by 5/10 days fermentation with submerged cap. Daily pumping over. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in full at a controlled temperature after the alcoholic fermentation. Ageing: in French barriques during the first twelve months, then in bottes grandes for 12 months and matured in the bottle for 12 months.
