"The 2014 Pinot Noir Savoy Vineyard exudes Anderson Valley intensity. Beams of tannin and acidity give the Savoy its length, energy and vibrancy. The Savoy is not an especially obvious wine, but it sure is delicious. Give the 2014 a few years to soften. This is another fabulous Pinot from Failla. The firm, structured style will appeal most to readers with more classically leaning palates. Pomegranate, sweet red cherry/plum and wild flowers add the closing shades of nuance." –Feb-16
Savoy Vineyard, northwest of the town of Philo, is a close 13 miles (as the crow flies) to the Pacific Ocean. The Vineyard sits right in the wheelhouse of Ehren Jordan's constant pursuit of cool-climate sites. In the cellar, fermentation is completed with native yeast and full malolactic takes place. The wine is aged for 11 months in french oak (25% new). (425 cases)
The 2014 Vintage while certainly the qualitative
equal of 2012 and 2013, has a rather different tone.
These wines are brooding, intense, elegant and
deeply textural. They are wines of meditation and
grace and will provide years of growing, fascinating
complexity. An incredible reminder of how precious
the relationships are, with their own vineyards and
the vineyards they source from.
