2013 Failla Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard, Napa Valley
Wine Enthusiast Failla, 2013 Failla Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard, Napa Valley
"Well-integrated minerality and a combination of exotic fig and guava make this an inviting wine, supported by floral wafts of orange blossom. Finely made from a stellar vineyard site in Carneros, it has creamy lemon and tangerine layered throughout, finished by a spicy, herbal accent. *Editors' Choice*" –July 2015
Vinous Failla, 2013 Failla Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard, Napa Valley
"The 2013 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard is one of the more subtle wines readers will taste from this historic site. Honey, chamomile, apricot pit, peach, spice and butter are laced together in a nuanced Chardonnay built on texture. According to Ehren Jordan, Hudson is a site that needs to be picked riper than some of the other vineyards he works with."
"This comes from a southwest-facing block at Lee Hudson’s vineyard, in the hills rising up from Carneros. It’s a finely grown chardonnay, austere up front, then full in the middle. The wine’s warm richness is incorporated into flavors of roasting peaches, baking spices and cream, all held firmly by clean, persistent acidity. Decant a bottle for grilled prawns." –October 2015
