"Ethereally sheer and dazzling in brightness, this nymph-like Auslese packs remarkable punch. It’s smoky, mineral and permeated with sun-baked slate notes, yet so pristinely fruity it bursts with fresh lemon and lime flavors as well. Concentrated yet spry, it finishes with effortless persistence."

"While sylphlike in mouthfeel, this outrageously ripe, rich auslese packs a punch of dried apricot, peach and pineapple flavors. Its sweetness penetrates deeply, punctuated by earthy fennel notes. It’s delicious already but should improve through 2040, likely beyond."

"Lime and grapefruit, pungently announced on the nose, take on a meringue and custard character on the palate, simultaneously projecting a sense of density and creaminess yet also airy levity and bright, tangy, tart-edged citricity that helps control the wine’s overt sweetness. A remarkable level of energy and sheer refreshment for an Auslese takes the vibrantly sustained finish in a sorbet-like direction, with green tea, citrus zests and crystalline mineral impingements combining for intrigue and tongue-tingling invigoration."

2015 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese
Fritz Haag

100% Riesling

The steep Grosse Lage (grand cru) Brauneberg has been revered as a top vineyard site since the Romans first cultivated wine grapes in the Mosel valley in the second century AD. The Juffer Sonnenuhr is the choicest center cut of the Brauneberg — the steepest and most south-facing part of the hillside that surrounds the sundial.

Auslese is a special selection of late-picked, very ripe clusters with about 50% botrytis-affected grapes.

Alcohol: 7.5%
