"Elena Walch's 2015 Alto Adige Beyond The Clouds is a wine of density and richness, yet it also manages to feel feather light on the palate. That special quality of showing concentration without feeling heavy has also defined past editions of this Chardonnay-based blend from the far north of Italy. The other grapes used are aromatic, and you do get notes of honey, exotic fruit and night-blooming jasmine. Some 14,000 bottles were produced."

VARIETAL: Predominantly Chardonnay.

VINEYARD: Castel Ringberg vineyard.

FERMENTATION: French oak Barrique.

MALOLACTIC: Partial fermentation.

AGING: About 10 months in oak barriques with regular lee stirs. Finished wine is bottle aged for about 6 months prior to release.
