"Coming from accountant-crushing yields of 0.54 tons per acre, Calera's 2014 Chardonnay Mt Harlan was harvested near the middle of September and spent 13 months in 30% new French oak. This killer effort offers an exotic, perfumed bouquet of white peach, orange blossom, buttered citrus and brioche, with tons of chalky minerality emerging with more time in the glass. Rich, full-bodied, yet graceful, light on its feet and impeccably balanced, it's another great vintage for this cuvee to enjoy over the coming 5-7 years." –Aug-16
"Sweet spices and preserved lemons on the nose; memories of a weekend in Marrakech. A mineral palate with restrained oak, nice grip and lots of character. Long and very complex with a full body and promise of more to come."
Calera’s Mt. Harlan Vineyards are located in the Gavilan Mountains 25 miles east of the
Monterey Bay. The site was chosen for its unique limestone soils and ideal climate. At an average
elevation of 2,200 feet, it is among the highest and coolest vineyard sites in California.
Vineyards have a south/southwest exposure on gentle slopes. Fruit spends 10 months in French oak (30% new) and completes 100% malolactic fermentation.
All of Calera's Mt Harlan vineyards are farmed Certified Organic.
