Boscoe Wine Co.

The Boscoe ‘Lizette’ Grenache Blanc is named after David’s mother Elizabeth. Sourced from organically farmed vines planted on limestone in the Rancho Boa Vista vineyard of Ballard Canyon, this wine is all about balance, elegance, and persistance.

In the 2016 vintage David chose to pick on September 30th at 9:30pm. The fruit was whole cluster free run (meaning he threw a bunch of clusters in a vat and let the fruit do the work). This method of “pressing” is only feasible because of the small quantities of wine produced - one hundred and forty five cases to be exact. This method is exceedingly gentle, promotes phenolic extraction and allows a gentle juice “browning.”

After allowing the free run juice to collect overnight, the wine is moved to tank where it underwent natural alcoholic and malolactic fermentation (partial only, due to the low ph of the juice). After a forty five day primary fermentation, the wine is allowed to rest for six months sur lie with weekly battonage and one rack and return in late April. The wine was bottled by hand on June 7th 2017. 145 cases produced.
