"Aromas of stones, tar and bark with dark fruit follow through to a full body, firm and chewy tannins and a tangy undertone. Shows form and tension. Better in 2019."

"Limpid ruby-red. Vibrant, sharply delineated aromas of raspberry, Asian spices and potpourri are lent urgency by a strong mineral flourish. Juicy, spicy and focused on the palate, with showing vibrant cut and mineral lift to the red berry, rose pastille and spicecake flavors. Finishes impressively long and aromatic, with resonating florality and silky tannins sneaking in late to contribute shape. There's a lot of immediate appeal here, but I'd give this sexy Pinot at least a few more years of rest."

"In French, the vineyard name means “the meadow on the mountain,” a fitting name for the site. This is a spicy wine, with a touch of red-hot candy. The pretty cherry fruit is underscored with earth and mineral, and the astringent, tea-flavored tannins morph into a suggestion of cola at the tail end. —P.G."

2014 Bergstrom Pinot Noir Le Pré du Col Vineyard
Bergstrom Winery

One of Bergstrom's newest and most exclusive vineyard sites, Le Pré du Col lies in the prestigious Ribbon Ridge AVA. Few appellations in North America evoke such sentiment and passion for Pinot Noir as Ribbon Ridge. This narrow and winding ridge of marine sedimentary soils does indeed look like a ribbon from the sky at just 3.5 by 1.75 miles.

“The meadow on the mountain”, in French, this vineyard has been managed Bio-dynamically since 2008. Le Pré du Col is a warm, south-facing vineyard at just 300 feet of elevation with sandy, reflective soils and sandstone bedrock that ripens Pinot Noir effortlessly year in and year out.
