James Suckling Bergstrom Winery, 2014 Bergstrom Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard
"A linear and chewy wine with a beautiful backbone of tannins that give this young wine form and beauty. Medium to full body, juicy fruit and a long and flavorful finish. Serious red. Drink in 2018." –Nov-16
"Brilliant ruby. Ripe cherry and black raspberry aromas are complicated by floral oil and cola nuances. Sappy and expansive on entry, then tighter in the midpalate, offering palate-staining red and dark berry flavors that turn sweeter on the back half. Shows a sexy floral pastille note on the strikingly long, penetrating finish, which is framed by silky, even tannins. The blend of richness and vivacity here is quite impressive."
This 140-acre, mountainside vineyard located in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA is comprised of two different hills. Of the 22 wineries
in America who purchase Shea Vineyard fruit, Bergström Wines is the vineyard’s largest client with 10% of the site under
long-term commitment, all on the East Hill. Shea Vineyard sits on ancient marine seabeds that were uplifted millions of years
ago by volcanic activity. Due to Shea Vineyard’s low altitude, it is a very warm microclimate for the Willamette Valley and its
grapes have the opportunity to achieve full physiological maturity each and every vintage.
