Brick House Vineyards, 2013 Brick House Chardonnay Cascadia

17.0
"Like the straight Brick House Chardonnay, not giving much away on the nose, just a slight creaminess. On the palate, this is super-refined and a big step up. Tight, mineral, no hint of struck-match character but upright and structured with terrific freshness slicing through the fruit and creamy texture. Moderate concentration but it has length and finesse. As it warms up in the glass, the depths seem to emerge, giving more noticeable length in a restrained, elegant style. (JH)"

Brick House Vineyards

“Cascadia” is the reserve designation for Brick House's Chardonnays. The fruit was harvested on September 16, 2013 and lightly crushed prior to going into the press. The juice was drained into a selection of seasoned as well as new barrels, both 228L and 500L. After a light SO2 addition, a native ferment was encouraged. The juice was chaptalized to +/- 1.0 brix. After native malos and 12 months on its lees, the wine was racked to tank for a further 6 months and bottled after a polishing filtration on February 26 & 27, 2015.
