Brick House Vineyards, 2013 Brick House Chardonnay Ribbon Ridge

16.5
"Pale gold, not immediately aromatic though this may be slightly overchilled. On the palate, an unusual mix of buttery and savoury/mineral. I like the slightly chalky texture, which I guess is from the lees influence. Oak has very much taken the back seat though there is a hint of spice on the finish. Tasted later after it had warmed in the glass, the buttery character had disappeared, giving way to a much more savoury/mealy flavour, with a sour-citrus freshness on the finish. (JH)"

WINE
2013 Brick House Chardonnay Ribbon Ridge
Brick House Vineyards

100% Chardonnay

This is an estate grown and produced blend of five Chardonnay clones ( Dijon 75,76, 77, 78, 96). The juice is drained to neutral barrels and encouraged to ferment (like all Brick House wines) with indigenous yeasts. The wine finishes a full malolactic fermentation during the winter. Just prior to the following harvest, selected barrels are moved to a stainless steel tank where the wine remains for a further 6 months. It is bottled by hand after a light polishing filtration. 13.6% abv (390 cs)

2013 Vintage
The grapes were harvested, crushed and pressed on September 21 and 22, 2013 and bottled in March 2015
