Jean-Marc Brocard, 2015 Brocard Chablis Les Vieilles Vignes de Sainte Claire

"Pale yellow with green tones. Ripe peach with a touch of vanilla on the nose (5% of this wine was aged in afoudre). Rich, ripe, easygoing wine, but shows more inner-mouth tension than the Sainte Claire village offering. The wine's greater body and acidity no doubt are due to the 60-year-old vines. Nicely firm but essentially gentle wine with good peachy persistence."

WINE
2015 Brocard Chablis Les Vieilles Vignes de Sainte Claire
Jean-Marc Brocard

The Brocard Vieilles Vignes Sainte Claire is from a Massal selection of very old vines planted after WWII that gives tiny yields of around 30 hl per hectare. The vineyard sits on southwest facing exposures in class Chablis Kimmeridgian limestone soils.

The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, no battonage and allowed to complete malolactic fermentation. It ages on its lees in stainless tanks for added complexity. Like all of Brocard's wines, it is farmed Biodynamically. Jean-Marc Brocard calls this wine "the most consistent ager in our cellar over the last 20 years."
