Fattoria Alois, 2012 Alois 'Trebulanum' Casavecchia

"Casavecchia is another indigenous grape on the rise in the Caserta area of Campania. The 2012 Casavecchia Trebulanum sports dense and bold saturation with rich concentration. The grape is expressive and bold in terms of its aromatic profile. It delivers soft tannins with a bright point of acidity on the close. All of these characteristics line up to form a wine that would pair perfectly with pasta and Parmigiano cheese."

100% Casavecchia from Terre del Volturno IGT

Trebulanum is made from Casavecchia, one of Campania's rediscovered ancient grapes. Although very little is known about Casavecchia, the local legend claims that it comes from a single, forgotten vine that was discovered among the ruins of Pontelatone. A government project was eventually launched and devoted to finding these ancient varieties that survived phylloxera but were no longer being cultivated. Today, Fattoria Alois is one of the leading estates in Campania producing this wine.

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with maceration on the skins for 20 days. Malolactic fermentation occurs in large Italian botti for 18 months followed by aging for 12 months.
